Zacatentli
A house designed for an extraordinary site in the heart of the Tepozteco mountains, in the state of Morelos, within the community of Santo Domingo Ocotitlán. The landscape shifts with the seasons—lush and green during the rainy months, gradually drying out until June. The architecture fully embraces this changing environment, with nature itself becoming an element among the scattered volumes.
Rather than following a conventional layout with corridors, the house unfolds freely, with each space naturally finding its place within the site. The bedrooms are positioned at opposite ends, while a central hut-like kitchen anchors the composition. A dining pavilion occupies one corner of the property. A striking stone pyramid-like structure rises on one side, offering an expansive view of the mountains to the east. Below, the cistern creates a secondary viewpoint to the south. The entire arrangement is structured along a north-south axis, aligned with the site’s largest tree and framing the northern mountains, reminiscent of Southeast Asian landscapes.
