Islas

Heliogravure, Mexico, 2019

As the sun was at its zenith, from a small plane flying over the West Indies, these islands appeared to me. Altitude allows to see them as a whole. They look as evanescent forms which emerge randomly from the immensity; singular figures, each with its own character and identity, that I wanted to represent with Heliogravure. The gravure process adds a slight variation to each print, it makes them unique despite the repetition of these same abstract shapes. The ocean in the background act as an horizontal plane like a backdrop.

Unique edition.
